Nature Play Date: Fall Brew!

Join me at the park on October 31 for a special nature play date—Fall Brew! We’ll read Room On the Broom by Julia Donaldson, and then mix, mash and mull our very own pretend, magical brew!

Whether or not your family celebrates Halloween, the chance to mix, mash and mull "fall brew" can stimulate your child's imagination, calm your nervous system, activate multiple senses and strengthen emerging STEM skills. Toss in a few special ingredients, and the learning gets even more sensational. This beloved fall activity is something kids will want to repeat all year long!

Cost: FREE

To Join: Send an email or message to Shannon at rootedinplaylearning@gmail.com or (516) 528-0098 to save your spot(s). Once you send your RSVP, I will email you with the location and additional details prior to the event. This is not a drop-off event and an adult must remain present for the entirety of the event. Space is limited.

Potion Play

Open-ended play and sensory play are two incredible ways to support your child's development! The benefits far outweigh the mess, as your explorer will use tons of creativity and problem solving skills making new potions and concoctions.

And, for kids 18 months through about 5 or 6 years, there is a set of repetitive behaviors that kids of this age all over the world exhibit and that are tied to critical brain development, called "behavioral schema." Gathering ingredients, mashing and mixing as well as stirring activate transporting, transforming and circulation schema. Wow. Who knew how much learning was mixed up in mixture-making!
