Take Me Outside Day: Nature Art Challenge

Are you in to get out? Join me on October 17 for the Take Me Outside Day Nature Art Challenge! We’ll gather at the park to create our own nature mandala, inspired by Andy Goldsworthy, and help raise awareness for outdoor learning and education. Engaging with nature and making art has many proven benefits for all ages, including environmental awareness, sensory integration and mathematical concepts.

What is Take Me Outside Day? A day dedicated to helping raise awareness about outdoor learning, by encouraging educators to take their learners outside. Take Me Outside Day is officially on Thursday, October 18, but the entire week includes activities, speakers, and more to encourage educators to head beyond the four walls of a classroom (see here for more details)! With the help of 70+ outdoor learning partners, there is something for all ages, grades, and subjects under the three central themes of Indigenous Perspectives & Knowledge, Health & Wellbeing, and Climate Change & Environmental Education.

How to participate: Easy—just send me a message or email and let me know you’re coming and how many children you’ll be bringing! This event and activity is open to children of all ages. Start time is 10:45 am, and feel free to bring a blanket and picnic lunch to enjoy after the activity, too! This activity is specifically designed for children and their parent/caregiver to experience together, so adults will need to be present throughout the activity.

See you outside!
